A Ride Without Motorcycle Leathers

Have you ever wished you had a good set of motorcycle leathers? I will never forget the winter of 1987. My wife and I were living on the North shore of Chicago. She was working as an elementary school teacher and I was finishing grad school. Money was tight, so a second car was out of the question. The hassle of sharing a vehicle has always been more than I can stand to endure, so I began looking for some other form of cheap transportation. In those days I had yet to own a motorcycle, but I had always wanted one. While driving by the local shopping mall near our neighborhood, I noticed a motorcycle sitting beside the road with a for sale sign hanging off the front forks. It looked pretty small, but as the chrome glinted in the sun I found myself strangely drawn to pull over and check it out.

The bike was a 1972 Honda CB350, and for being 16 years old at the time, it was in great condition. It looked like it had been barely ridden and then tucked away in a garage somewhere. This was about 23 years ago now, so I honestly can not remember what color it was originally. I painted it metallic flake blue within the first year of owning it. To me, this bike was priceless, but I paid only $300 for it later that afternoon.

Now that my transportation problem was solved, I began regularly making the 20 mile commute to school. Which if you have ever been in Chicago traffic, you understand that a trip of that distance could take an hour or more. It must have bought the motorcycle in the summer because I remember how much I loved tooling around on it for the first few months. But then the temperature began to drop and the snow began to fly. I quickly learned that there is a good reason for Chicago being known as the windy city. Riding a motorcycle alongside Lake Michigan in the winter is like running ***** through a meet packing plant with 100 high speed fans blowing on you. I mean it was cut you to the bone frigid!Although I did have a full face helmet, I never seemed to have clothing that could keep the icy wind from penetrating down to my soul. I even remember forgetting my gloves one night and having to put my socks on my hands just to survive the ride home. My ankles still hurt when I think about it. Even though we now live in the south eastern United States, and you can ride nearly all year round, just thinking about those frosty mid-western motorcycle rides can send a nasty chill up my spine.

Since that time I’ve clocked countless miles on everything from Hondas to Harleys, and if there is one thing I have learned, it is that there is no substitute for a set of high quality motorcycle leathers. Whether you ride a crotch rocket or a big old hog, nothing beats a lined leather jacket and a broken in pair of chaps on a long cold ride. When God made cows, he really knew how to insulate them from the cold. If you are currently in the market for some new leathers, take a minute and check out the link listed below.

Tips For Purchasing A Motorcycle

Before you buy a motorcycle there is a typically quite a bit of research that needs to be done in order to located the bike that best suits your wants and needs. Because there are so many different types of motorcycles available, the choice is not always cut and dry. One thing that you'll want to consider is the type of riding that you enjoy the most, and how much riding you actually plan on doing, just to name a couple things.

One thing is true and that is the fact that there are a LOT of different styles of motorcycle available for purchase. If you plan on spending a lot of time on your motorcycle, meaning long trips, then you'll want to go for at least some level of comfort and durability. You may also want to consider functionality when purchasing a motorcycle. For example, you may want to have a lot of storage options when you travel so that you can carry your personal belongings with you.

Other types of motorcycles are built for different purposes including racing, riding off road, or just for bumming around town, in which case you might want to purchase a scooter. You'll want to purchase these types of motorcycles based on your individual needs.

For first time riders, it is recommend that a smaller body bike with and engine that has less power be purchased for the simple fact that it takes time to get used to riding and you may not be very experienced at first to handle a large machine. You may not want to take the chance of wrecking a much more expensive new motorcycle when you're just learning how to ride. Once you become more experienced, then you can go with the more expensive bike.

Make sure that the motorcycle you are looking at purchasing fits your body style. It has to fit you properly in order to keep you comfortable and safe on the road. Safety should be your first concern, and purchasing a motorcycle that you are not able to handle properly because it is too big for your body size is not going to help you maintain the proper safety level.

You'll know if the motorcycle in question fits you properly if you sit on it with the kickstand down and your feet both can touch the ground. If you cannot touch both feet on the ground, then the bike is too big for you and you should look at something smaller, or consider having it customized to fit you better. Make sure you can reach other components comfortably like the handlebars and brakes.

Price is also one of the more important factors to consider when buying a motorcycle. Make sure you set your budget and then look for bikes that fall within that budget. This will keep you from spending too much for you to handle. You may also consider purchasing a used version of the motorcycle you want if the new version is priced too high. Also determine whether or not you will be willing to finance a new motorcycle and make monthly payments on it if that gets you the bike you really want

Motorcycling can be an exciting and rewarding experience, and can allow you to spend some quality out on the open road. If you're on the market for a new machine, be sure to take your time and fully research all of your options so you get the best possible outcome for your situation.

Chrome rims and other chrome parts are often used to improve the appearance of vehicles. The bright decorative finish of chrome plating is very familiar and enhances the appearance as no other method of customising your ride can. Chrome plating is used on exhausts, handles, mirrors and trims as well as on the very popular chrome rims. Chrome plating is not just used for decoration however. The protective coating of the chrome makes the technique of chrome plating useful for other applications. Chrome plating can be used to protect pistons and other engine parts.

Chrome plating consists of applying a thin layer of chromium on to an iron, copper or other base metal to give a protective and decorative finish. Chromium itself is a reactive metal that reacts readily with the oxygen in the air. Unlike iron which forms a very unstable oxide that flakes and falls apart chromium oxide is hard and stable and forms a protective layer which prevents the underlying metal from corroding.

Different electroplating techniques are used to produce different effects. The shiny highly decorative finish that we are all familiar with on chrome rims and other auto parts is known as bright chrome. Other variations are black chrome and hard chrome.

Bright chrome is used when a decorative finish is required, on car rims for instance, and is applied fairly thinly. Decorative chrome is applied after a nickel coating is plated to a base of steel, copper alloys, steel and aluminum alloys and plastic. The nickel provides the luster and the chrome provides the hardness and protection. This kind of process is used for auto parts, jewelry, hardware, hand tools and appliances.

Black Chrome

For black chrome an underlying base of metal is plated with bright or mate nickel then the chromium plating applied over this. Black chrome is not as hard as bright chrome and not so long lasting. It is often oiled or waxed to improve the appearance. Black chrome is used in some auto parts, solar panels and some gun sights and other optical components.

Hard Chrome

Unlike the other types hard chrome is not used to give a decorative finish but to give a very long lasting protective coating for pistons, hydraulic rods, cylinders and other engine parts. The chrome is plated more thickly than for the decorative finishes to make a strong protective layer.

The Electroplating Procedure

Before the object can be plated it must be cleaned thoroughly by degreasing the cleaning manually to remove any debris and impurities. Sulphuric acid or other strong acids are also used. Other pre-treatments may also be used. Once cleaned the object is suspended in the plating solution. For bright chrome a solution of sulphuric acid and chromic acid is used and for black chrome, chromic acid with acetic acid and barium acetate. The temperature of the bath must be kept within 45C to 50C for bright chrome and 32C to 46C for black chrome. The thickness of the plating is controlled by the current used..

Motorcycle riding can be a wonderful experience for anyone that loves to get out on the open road and explore the country side to take in the scenery and fresh air. It’s important to keep safety in mind while riding in order to experience the safest, most enjoyable ride possible. Here are some tips to keep in mind while your out on your motorcycle that will help to keep you safe.

First of all, before you head out on any motorcycle trip, always make sure you have the proper gear and protective clothing. Helmets, jackets, chaps, gloves, boots, and glasses are just a few essential items that you should have in order to help protect yourself while you are on the road. Each one of these items provide a certain aspect of safety so it’s important that you not disregard any one of them if you want to be fully prepared for your ride.

Like any other vehicle, your motorcycle must also be inspected before each and every ride in order to prevent any major malfunctions or breakdowns in the middle of your ride. Always check things like tire pressure, oil levels, lights, and brakes in order to make sure that these items are fully functional and in optimal condition. Your tires are perhaps one the most important pieces of equipment, aside from your brakes, and you should take extra caution when making sure that they are in acceptable condition for riding. Signal lights, headlights, and break lights are all very important items that must be in good working order when you are riding. Since you are on a motorcycle and you are already at a disadvantage on the road because of your size, you need all the help you can get in order to make yourself visible. That’s why it is important to make sure all of your lights are working properly. Test out your horn too. You never know when you may need to signal to someone that you are present.

If you’re planning on heading out on a big trip, make sure you have your destinations pointed out and that you know which routes you are taking. This will help to keep your trip organized and on schedule. If you have a route map drawn out, make a copy of it and give it to someone that will not be traveling with you. This would be helpful in locating you if something were to happen to you.

It’s also very important to practice good riding skills while on your motorcycle. You were able to get your motorcycle license by passing a rider test, or by taking a rider course so you should have learned many of the necessary tips and techniques for riding safely. Now is the time to practice those techniques over and over so you’re sure you are riding as safe as you can possibly ride. Always make sure you are riding safely, not just for your sake, but for the sake of others on the road as well.

These are just a few helpful tips for staying safe on your motorcycle. Hopefully, if you take all the necessary precautions and always keep a safety first mindset, you’ll never have to experience any trouble on your motorcycle rides and you’ll enjoy many years of great motorcycle riding experiences.

More To Learn About Spark Plugs

Let us distinguish the important difference in spark plugs threaded ends. They come in four diameters and lengths. They come in nominal 14, 10, 12 and 18 millimeters diameters. Previously, there was a slight difference in thread configuration especially in different countries. However, the international standardization of the thread forms made it uniform. These new dimensions are now being followed by motorcycle parts manufacturers.

Usual Errors

There can be lots of error in selecting the best motorcycle parts especially in the case of spark plugs. The very usual error is using 3/4-inch plugs in 1/2 –inch holes. The result of the same is horrible.

When the plug threads are exposed in combustion, they become filled with deposits. Consequently, it will be hard to remove the plug without removing the hole threads. Quite the reverse, if you use a short plug to a deep hole, the deposit will fill the hole and it will be hard to re-install the right size plug.

The worst error is the use of overly-long plug. The exposed threads absorb great amount of heat from the combustion process which improve the plug-nose temperatures. As a consequence, the side electrode functions as a glow plug. Early ignition or runaway pre-ignition causes higher combustion chamber temperatures that can destroy the engine.

Heat Range Demands

Hot plugs come with a long insular nose. They lead heat high into the plug body before it returns to the cylinder head. Short-nosed plugs, on the other hand, have shorter heat path. Consulting the spark plug manufacturers regarding the plug’s heat range can be of great help.

This may somehow clear the cobwebs at the back of your mind regarding heat range demands. Knowing which plugs are colder or hotter may be easy if you stick to the same brand however, it becomes perplexing when you change from one brand to another.

There is more to spark plugs than the three aforementioned aspects. There are still areas that we need to master like its installations, different plug configurations and maintenance work. Nonetheless, we have to be first acquainted with these three aspects.

You must know more about spark plugs to pick the best type. Another, you have to complement your choice with your bike engine’s condition. These factors are hard to acquire and do, thus, we have to instill lots facts all at once. When you get it right, you will be greatly benefited.

More On Dirt Bike Safety

Safety is one of the prime things to be considered in dirt bike racing. Dirt bikers or even someone considering taking up dirt biking as a hobby or sport have to be aware of it.

Courses on Safety

Thanks to the ever-increasing number of people getting into dirt biking, these days it is even possible to enroll for courses in dirt bike safety. For a new rider who is planning to take up dirt biking, these courses would prove invaluable. For someone who is not well prepared and does not take safety seriously, dirt biking can be quite dangerous simply because not only is your own safety at stake, but you are also putting every other rider around you at risk.

Wear the Necessary Safety Accessories

Dirt bikes can be quite powerful. Imagine leaping several feet into the air and not wearing the proper kind of helmet! If you bike kicks out, you can have an accident that can be near fatal because your head will have little or no protection.

Most experienced riders advise getting the correct kind of equipment. You should make sure that you wear all the essential accessories, such as a helmet, right kind of clothes to protect your upper body, trousers clothing the legs and riding boots to guard the feet and ankles. These have to be padded at the appropriate places. Gears of inferior quality material make you run the risk of serious injury in case of an accident.

Well fitting clothes ensure safety. Loose fitting clothes tend to flap around or get caught in the wheels and the bike’s engine parts or may tug at the handlebars. The helmet must sit right on your head so that it does not roll off.

Keep Your Bike in Good Condition

Other than clothing, your bike must be constantly checked to ensure that it is in good condition. All parts must be well oiled and replaced in all weather conditions. A faulty part can make the difference between life and death, especially at high speeds. Brakes, steering and suspension must be in perfect working condition. Dirt biking involves steep drops that can make you crumble on impact.

The bike must be thoroughly tested and checked every time you go out dirt biking or dirt bike racing. A test ride is absolutely mandatory to ensure comfort while riding at high speeds and sudden braking. Experienced bikers instinctively know exactly what to do in special situations.

Fun on a motorcycle

Perhaps one of the most annoying things about motorcycles is that the majority of them are extremely loud. A few years back, I actually lived in a town-home community in which motorcycles were not allowed! In another community that one of my friends lived in, motorcycles were allowed, but they were not allowed to be visible. If you owned a motorcycle or had someone visiting who owned one, you had to cover it up or park it in your garage so that it was out of sight.

So, why do motorcycles have such a bad reputation? I think part of the reason that motorcycles are frowned upon is due to how they have been portrayed over the years. It seems like every motorcycle rider that we've seen in every motorcycle movie has at least one tattoo, smokes and is in trouble with the law (usually for riding their motorcycles too fast!). While this is not entirely true nowadays, it still makes one wonder what would possess a motorcycle enthusiast to want to purchase and/or ride a motorcycle. For most motorcycle enthusiasts, the reasoning behind owning a motorcycle seems to revolve around an inherent "need for speed".

I once asked my little brother (an avid motorcycle rider) what in the world possessed him to want to own a motorcycle and ride one. He told me that he felt "free" when he rode his motorcycle. Also, I think it had something to do with the fact that growing up, my parents were strict. This was simply his way to rebel and do something that he knew the both of them would knowingly disapprove of. But is this the case for other motorcycle riders? I am not sure. What I do know is that motorcycles are not typically supposed to be loud. However, many riders will alter their motorcycle motors so that they make a lot of racket. To the motorcycle rider, this noise is "cool," but to other less enthusiastic participants, this is an annoyance that they wish would go away.

Interestingly enough, in the police department, I noticed that many of the police officers (usually of the male persuasion) loved motorcycles and usually owned one. I am sure that there is some sort of correlation between the high number of motorcycle owners who were on the police department and the law being intermingled in there. It's almost a catch-22 if you ask me. I never did figure it out. Usually the motorcycle riders are the ones that cops go after, right? So then why would so many cops own motorcycles?

Whatever the case, motorcycles hold an interest for many Americans. Each year, there are hundreds of motorcycle rallies across the country that draw thousands of riders, their families, friends and other supporters. There are also plenty of motorcycle clubs that do charity rides as well as raise money for various charities. See? Not all motorcycles are bad. One thing is for certain, however. People who own motorcycles don't just own a motorcycle so that they can drive the speed limit. They own motorcycles because they love the feel of the wind in their face and at their backs. They love the feeling of speeding down an open stretch of highway with nothing but the pavement beneath their feet.

How to remove sticker

Do you have any bumper stickers on your car that just won’t come off? If so, below are some tips on how to get every single bit of the sticker off.

If you have particularly difficult bumper stickers that need removing, try these tips:

Run to the hardware store and get some lubricant. WD40 will usually do the trick.Justify Full Smear the lubricant on the outside of your sticker. If you’re lucky, you may be able to pull the sticker off and be done with the job.

If most, but not all, of the sticker came off and left tiny paper bits behind, run to the kitchen and pick up a spatula or out to the garage and grab some fishing line. You can use either of them to gently scrape off the remaining sticky parts of the bumper sticker.

If the methods above don’t fully remove the bumper sticker, try some of these ideas:

Grab a hairdryer. Yes, you read right: a hairdryer. Get an extension cord, and turn that blower right on to the bumper sticker. The heat from the dryer will moisten and possibly melt the old adhesive that’s attaching the sticker to your car. Put it on high heat. Slowly pull the sticker up, moving the hairdryer along the sticker as you slowly pull the sticker up.

To remove any remaining adhesive sticking to your bumper, get some rubbing alcohol and a cloth that is lint free and gently rub the alcohol on the sticker. This should work very well if your sticker is on your windshield or a window. If you’re concerned the alcohol might damage your paint’s finish, warm soapy water should work just as well. –To completely remove bumper stickers, you need to have a bit of patience - the last remaining adhesive on bumpers is notoriously difficult to remove completely.

Polish and/or wax should do a good job of removing the sticker’s shadow the discolored outline where the sticker once was from the bumper.

Origin of StreetFighter

I never covered streetfighter bike style. There I only display a picture or an example how the model motorcycle streetfighter. At this time I will discuss the origin of streetfighter motorcycle style.
1980s witnessed a growth of a rebellious trend in England, called StreetFighter. It was lead by youngsters who wanted to demonstrate their toughness using drastically changed motorcycles with powerful engines and took to the streets. They started a fire storm which soon crossed over into Germany and the rest of Europe within a couple of years. The trend was also popularised by bike messengers who had to fight maddening London traffic to deliver messages. These messengers never earned grand salaries and so instead of replacing the war torn bodywork of their motorcycles, they simply removed them. This gave them the advantage in the way of better performing bikes and improved navigation on the machine as opposed to the custom scene which preferred style over outright ability.

The StreetFighter scene continues to grow and thrive in many European countries till today. Countless are believed to be avid members of StreetFighter Magazines, Fighter clubs, meetings and forums. The trend has expanded its routes to American culture as well and looking around the world we see many vibrant styles that demonstrate a key piece of cultures across different countries.

Interesting ideas are taking shape within the four walls of garage sheds and workshops at few designated places. Globalization has made room for infinite possibilities for StreetFighter and used motorcycles in London and neighbouring areas, namely Edgware, Mill hill, Stanmore, Colindale, Bushey, Harrow Weald or Golders Green. The appeal of the sporty motorcycle lives on in the shape of bikes by Greater Londor Motorcycles, which is inspired by long traditions in young and dynamic arena of bike designs.

Buying a motorcycle give many enthusiasts a chance to express their style in a unique way. Greater Londor Motorcycles is a one stop shop for used motorcycles, Gilera, Piaggio and Vespa Scooters. It also carries high quality European accessories from world-class German manufacturers. The majority of these accessories hit the market only after passing the exceedingly high standards of the German TÜV which ensures an exceptional quality.

Triumph Thunderbird 1600

Triumph revealed its new Thunderbird 1600 cruiser at a dealer conference yesterday. Details remain scarce, but we do know it has a 1594cc engine making something in excess of 100bhp, belt drive and an unnecessarily large 200/70-18 rear tire. Aside from competent handling that’ll be spoiled by that big tire, the looks indicate a depressingly boring Harley clone. Yes, we know it has an ugly parallel twin, but honestly, cover it up with your thumb and you can’t tell the difference between the Thunderbird and every other generic cruiser made in the last 20 years. Come on Triumph, you can do better. More details will be announced in the new year and more pictures, if you really care, after the jump.

Technology Motorcycle Electricity

TECHNOLOGY engine friendly environment at the same time economical fuel is no longer just a dream of the future. Now a number of factories have developed automotive vehicles environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, the car-fueled electricity is not yet marketed by the manufacturer because the author has not been profitable.

The development of electric vehicles began to show sign of good commercial had occurred on the type of bicycle or motorcycle. Two-wheeled vehicles equipped with electricity increasingly popular in Japan, China and countries in the United States and Europe.

Appropriate name, the source of energy bicycle and electric motorcycle is, yes, electric current of electricity. Moreover, the actual technology that is available in two-wheeled car is relatively simple. Essentially, only to change electrical energy into energy movement in the rear wheel.

According to Mario Rivaldi, General Manager of PT Indonesia Betrix, electric motorcycles are divided into two types according to the system operation. The first type, a motorcycle use the system Power On Demand (POD). She, with this technology, the operation of the electric motorcycle motor skutik similar to the many outstanding in the market. "Just pull the gas, the motor will be done," said Mario.

There are more technology Power Assist System (PAS). In this type, rider must pedal to pedal first turn the dynamo. "Just with only two stroke, the engine will start working dynamo," said Mario also mentioned that the products have Betrix variants for the second-variant system.

Normally, electric motorcycle is using the three main components, namely battery, dynamo, and the speed regulator. Batteries will be a source of electricity, as a substitute fuel oil used by motor duck normal. Electricity from the battery will be connected with the controller that will flow. One of the tides dynamo to the tersalur. Dinamo is further propel the wheels back.

Of course, the electric motor create dispose of not removing the gas. In addition, the normal noise that sounded when the gas withdrawn also disappeared. In the condition that a full battery, electric motor output Modern Group, E-Moto, can travel up to 80 kilometers distance with a maximum speed of 50 km per hour. After that, to be prime battery must be charged with PLN electricity for eight hours.

With electricity tariffs as now, the cost for charging the battery fully only spend money to Rp 900. Compare with the consumption of conventional gasoline motorcycle, which takes 2 liters of gas to travel the same distance.

However, this cost-efficient vehicles also have weaknesses. Electrical systems are still vulnerable to damage the technical. Battery, for instance, only to survive two years. Hence, the electric motor user must treat the patient leaves the battery can be a maximum period of demand. One of the battery before filling out correct. Battery on the market price ranges between Rp 600,000 to Rp 700,000.

Motorcycle

A motorcycle (bike, motorbicycle, cycle or motorbike) is a single-track, two-wheeled motor vehicle powered by an engine. Motorcycles vary considerably depending on the task for which they are designed, such as long distance travel, navigating congested urban traffic, cruising, sport and racing, or off-road conditions. In many parts of the world, motorcycles are among the least expensive and most widespread forms of motorised transport.

History

Arguably, the first motorcycle was designed and built by the German inventors Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Bad Cannstatt (since 1905 a city district of Stuttgart) in 1885.[1] The first petroleum-powered vehicle, it was essentially a motorised bicycle, although the inventors called their invention the Reitwagen ("riding car"). However, if a two-wheeled vehicle with steam propulsion is considered a motorcycle, then the first one may have been American. One such machine was demonstrated at fairs and circuses in the eastern U.S. in 1867, built by Sylvester Howard Roper of Roxbury, Massachusetts.[1]

In 1894, Hildebrand & Wolfmüller became the first motorcycle available for purchase.[2] In the early period of motorcycle history, many producers of bicycles adapted their designs to accommodate the new internal combustion engine. As the engines became more powerful and designs outgrew the bicycle origins, the number of motorcycle producers increased.

Benefits motorcycle engine injection

Motorcycle engine that uses injections, he said the difficult and more expensive. in fact the motorcycle with injection technology, more economical 10% in oil consumption than a motorcycle wearing carburettor, concerning treatment also easy because it does not need to dredge and straighten carburettor again, if a motorcycle carburettor take the service for 30 minutes then the motorcycle injection only takes time 15 minutes only.

It can be more economical than the injection carburettor?
That's because the measure is always right. from lap down to a comparison of the gasoline-air are always fit, According to information from the Edhi Sarwono, the Technical Service Training Manager PT AHM. Motorcycle shot many sensors that adjust the engine performance, debit fuel and air can be adjusted according to the needs of the gas openings. Other advantages, if a motorcycle carburettor depending on the condition of the environment, if a motorcycle is in place higher, it will be more extravagant. vice versa. but this does not affect the motorcycle injection. because of a sensor in a motorcycle shot to make the environment around the temperature, so the debit fuel also suitable local temperature.

Easy care
If the carburettor cleaned when the need to be demolished so that the time has not yet been demolished because it is often a risk that some components worn so vulnerable, especially Skep jacket. are for the type of motorcycle that use injection vulnerable longer treatment time, just 10-15 thousand kilometers once, it is enough in the wash with injector cleaner. even if the premium quality used good, the actual injection does not need to scotfree again. because besides sterile, AHM has also been given to the fine filter prior to the injector though clearly more secure Handy Hariko, Deputy GM Technical Service PT AHM.

Comparison
Supra x 125 with the injection and carburettor, honda injection can reach 66 km / liter, compared with the Supra x 125 type carburettor which it is done as far as 59.3 km / liter. I is sufficient.
